How this site works

In short

Most sites copy payment dates from a government portal. We calculate them from the regulation that sets them. That is why the dates here are still right when the portal is down, redesigned, or a year out of date.

Where the numbers come from

Payment dates come from 20 CFR 404.1807, which assigns a payment day by the insured person’s birth date, combined with the federal holiday schedule at 5 U.S.C. 6103. The cost-of-living adjustment is a formula (42 U.S.C. 415(i)) applied to the CPI-W series the Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes monthly — so the figure can be computed before it is announced.

Every page carries a review date

Each page shows when it was last verified and when it is next due for review, with the reason. When an underlying figure changes, every page that cites it is flagged automatically — we do not rely on anyone remembering which pages mentioned what.
